The Committee met with Lee Attema who wishes to become a member of Trinity Presbytery. He has been pastor of the Presbyterian Church in Free Port, Texas for several years. This church is moving their membership into Trinity Presbytery of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
Rev. Attema was ordained to the Gospel Ministry by the Haywood Baptist Church in Tallahassee, Florida in August of 1980.
He received a Master of Divinity from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary in 1981. We have a copy of a letter that is addressed to “Our brothers and sisters in Christ in the Presbyterian Communion, that states that Rev. Attema is in good within the National Association of Congregational Christian Churches.
At Bethel University, Tennessee and then in Boston, Mass he attended the Course on Cumberland Presbyterian Polity, History and Doctrine. As soon as these are completed we are satisfied with Rev.Attema and make the following recommendations:
RECOMMENDATION 1:That Rev. Lee Attema be received as an ordained minister.
RECOMMENDATION 2: That the questions asked licentiate to be ordained be asked of Rev. Lee Attema.
RECOMMENDATION 3: That following this that he be placed on the roll of Ministers in Trinity Presbytery.
Letter was received from Rev. Sharon Bowers concerning the Insurance Program. She stated in the letter that she needed the insurance. At presence she is not employed. With the changes coming Ministers working for Hospice will be volunteers and will not receive a salary.
RECOMMENDATION 4. That Rev. Sharon Bowers continue on the Insurance Program.
Letters to all ministers who do not have a charge at this time has been mailed. It reminds them that they are members of the Trinity Presbytery and they should be sending to the Clerk when they are not going to be at presbytery. We trust they will be attending when they can
