Trinity Presbytery

Guidelines for Health and Disability Insurance

a.Enroll in the denominational health insurance program and include premium costs in the presbyterial budget for all ordained Cumberland Presbyterian ministers (and their dependents) serving the Cumberland Presbyterian Church for 30 hours or more per week;

b. Continue to pay health insurance premiums for ministers enrolled in the denominational program (and their dependents) where the pastoral relationship has been dissolved or where the relationship has been changed due to health problems for a period not to exceed 90 days from the last day the minister receives remuneration from the congregation involved;

c. Where a minister has been terminated or resigned under pressure from the congregation, continue to pay health insurance premiums for any minister (and his/her dependents) enrolled in the denominational program for a period of six months from the last day the minister receives remuneration from the congregation or until the minister secures employment which offers him/her insurance coverage, whichever occurs first.  

d. Upon written approval of the Committee on Probationers, enroll in the denominational health program and include premium costs in the presbyterial budget for all probationers of the presbytery who are full-time students (and their dependents);

e. Upon written approval of the Committee on Probationers, continue to pay health insurance premium for probationers who have completed seminary and are waiting a call to full-time ministry;

f. Cover a portion of the cost of a Medicare supplement insurance policy for all eligible retired ministers of the presbytery (and their dependents) and cover full costs of such a supplemental policy for all eligible ministers of the presbytery (and their dependents) when they continue to work for the Cumberland Presbyterian Church for 30 hours or more per week;

g. Enroll all eligible full-time Cumberland Presbyterian ministers in the denomination’s long-range disability insurance plan; and

h. Establish a Health Insurance Reserve Fund to be utilized in emergency situations; procedures for approval and payments from this fund to be established by the Board of Missions, through its Subcommittee on Ordained Clergy.

i. That any full-time minister choosing a more expensive option on the denominational insurance plan be allowed to do so by paying Trinity Presbytery the difference between the option chosen by the Presbytery and the option chosen by the minister. In addition, such minister and his or her session must sign a contract that obligates the payments be made prior to the beginning of each quarter.
